David Prutton has backed former club Sheffield Wednesday to come out on top when they take on Luton Town at Hillsborough tomorrow.

With the Owls having started the campaign with a 12 point deduction, they knew the importance of a fast start. And, whilst it hasn't really materialised, eight points from their opening five games is a decent enough start.

They will expect to move closer to safety by picking up three points against the Hatters, who have lost three of their last four Championship fixtures.

Writing in his regular Sky Sports column, Prutton believes the Owls will do just that, as he put them down for a 1-0 success.

Boss Garry Monk will be desperate for the points as his team have really struggled on their own patch this season, drawing two and losing one of the three games at Hillsborough.

That defeat came last time out when promotion hopefuls Brentford defeated Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Luton go into the game following a 2-0 defeat at Millwall in the week, where they were comfortably second best.

The verdict

This is going to be a very tight game and you wouldn't be surprised if a single goal did decide it.

As mentioned, Wednesday's performances at home have been a slight concern and they need to start winning games like this if they are to climb out of the relegation zone.

Luton are a tidy outfit under Nathan Jones and they certainly have enough quality to pick up the points but a narrow home success does seem the most likely outcome.
