David Prutton is tipping Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City to secure a point apiece when the two sides go head to head at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon.

Rovers ran out 4-0 winners when the two sides met at St Andrew's back in October, although it seems a repeat performance may be difficult this time around.

Tony Mowbray's side go into the game off the back five straight defeats, their longest losing run since their relegation from the Premier League in 2012, which has seen them slip to 15th in the Championship table, ten points off the play-off places.

Coventry meanwhile, have won just one of their last seven games, albeit that was an eye-catching 2-0 win over promotion chasing Brentford, and they go into the game 20th in the Championship table, five points clear of the relegation zone.

Perhaps with that poor form of both these sides in mind, Prutton is predicting that Rovers and Coventry will effectively cancel each other out this weekend, and be forced to settle for a draw.

Writing in his weekly predictions column for Sky Sports, the former Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday striker has predicted that this match will finish with a 1-1 scoreline.

The Verdict

I'm not sure I agree with Prutton here in all honesty.

Both these teams are in desperate need of a win, so I can see them going all out in order to get the three points.

This therefore should be an entertaining game, and one that could be decided by the attacking quality of these two sides.

On paper, Blackburn do look to be the stronger in that sense, and while Coventry may hope to have caught them at a good time given recent form, the need to get three points could give Rovers the motivation to make sure they do get over the line in this one.
