If only away matches counted this season, Preston North End would sit top of the Championship table on goal-difference, whilst visa versa, and Alex Neil's men would be five points from safety. 

Overall, it means the Whites currently sit 16th in the second-tier standings as they look to improve on a shocking home record that has seen them collect just two wins and seven points from 11 matches, since games starting being played behind closed doors in June.

However, on paper, Wycombe would appear the ideal opponents for Preston to kickstart their season on home soil.

The Chairboys have managed just two victories following their promotion from League One, and although they're becoming harder to beat in recent weeks, the Adams Park outfit are finding goals to come by, and head to Lancashire three points from safety.

Taking all of that into consideration, it should be a tight game at Deepdale, and that's exactly how Sky Sports EFL expert David Prutton sees it panning out. He's gone for a slender 2-1 win for Preston.

The Verdict

Neil will be desperate for Preston to transform their record on the road to that at Deepdale. If his side can manage to do that quickly, they could rapidly climb the Championship standings.

Wycombe don't concede many, but finding the net is proving twice as difficult, which isn't usually a problem for Preston, who I think will come away with a comfortable 2-0 success here.
