The Championship resumes this weekend after a two-week break to accommodate the autumn internationals.
Hillsborough is the venue as Sheffield Wednesday host Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Wednesday have won their last three in a row while Stoke have struggled to adapt to life back in the second-tier, winning just one of their first six fixtures.
The Owls will be looking to extend that run to four when they face Gary Rowett’s beleaguered side.
Stoke have been unconvincing so far this term and have failed to adapt quickly enough to the Championship.
After a poor start, Wednesday’s season lit up after a win over Millwall which sees them head into this weekend 11th in the table with Stoke in the lowly spot of 18th.
The international break came at a good time for Rowett’s men who will be hoping their season starts now and they earn a win over a resurgent Owls side.
Wednesday will be aiming to keep their run going after the two-week break.
And Sky Sports’ David Prutton has looked ahead to the fixture this weekend.
The pundit said: “Sheffield Wednesday are another side that are on a bit of an upturn.
“Three wins in a row have shot the Owls into the top half of the table, and for the first time in a long time they are looking up rather than down.
“Stoke simply cannot get going.
“They finally got their first win on the board and then followed that up immediately with a meek defeat at West Brom.
“I’m going to have to go with the form book here and say home win. 3-1.”
This looks like an intriguing contest, Wednesday are bang in form and Stoke have shown signs of their potential but have so far failed to deliver.
Hillsborough is a difficult place to go but having had the break; it would have allowed Gary Rowett to work his ideas into his side without disruption.
I fancy a narrow Stoke City win. 2-1.
