Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has praised Marcelo Bielsa's handling of the remarkable injury crisis that has hit the club after he said he won't be making many new signings in January.

Reports suggest that a goalkeeping addition is likely to be the only arrival in the New Year, which has surprised many.

Youngsters Aapo Halme and Jamie Shackleton are in line to play against QPR this afternoon due to the number of defenders that Leeds have out injured.

As well as that, Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown are only just returning to fitness after long lay-offs. Yet, Bielsa is ignoring the calls for new players and instead working very well with what he currently has.

And, Prutton thinks that could create a unity between the players currently at the club.

"There is that galvanising effect of bunkering down and saying ‘look lads I trust you lot, what we have done so far is good but I want to make sure that we carry on’," he wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

"That can breed the kind of loyalty that a manager such as Bielsa can create."

The Whites are searching for their fourth successive win this afternoon when they face QPR at Elland Road.

The Verdict

Bielsa deserves so much credit for how he has handled the number of injuries that have hit Leeds and his positive attitude is rubbing off on the players.

As Prutton suggests, it can bring everyone closer together and it must give the group so much confidence.

Whether it's the right decision remains to be seen though as this Leeds squad will be seriously tested in the next few weeks.
