Bolton Wanderers make the trip to the Riverside to take on Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.

The visitors head into the fixture on the back of a home defeat to Queens Park Rangers at the weekend and have slipped down to tenth, after failing to win in any of their last three games.

The Trotters’ early season form looks to be dwindling, but Phil Parkinson will be hoping he can rally his troops ahead of their next fixture.

Middlesbrough, meanwhile, lost their unbeaten start to the new season this past weekend, going down 1-0 away to Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Tony Pulis’ men slipped ever so slightly down the table are the defeat with the Boro boss hoping his side can arrest a two-game run without a win and get another three points on the board to maintain their early season form.

With that said, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton looks ahead to tomorrow night’s clash between the two high-fliers.

He said: “Middlesbrough suffered their first defeat of the season against Norwich on Saturday, but this should be a good opportunity for them to get back on the horse.

Bolton started brilliantly but have levelled out a little and have not won in three. They will not make it easy for Boro, but this is a home win for me, 1-0.”

The Verdict

This is going to be a tight game, with both sides wobbling ever so slightly, Bolton, just a tad more than their hosts tomorrow night.

After a few weeks of uncertainty from the Lancashire side, that must have undoubtedly affected their performances and results.

Boro, however, will need to get back to winning ways at home and you would expect them to do so.

Bolton’s early season form is slowing dying down, and Boro will be looking for a response after the narrow defeat at the weekend.

I sense a Middlesbrough win by the odd goal in three, 2-1 to the home side tomorrow night.
