It’s safe to say that it’s not been the ideal start to life in the Championship for Wycombe Wanderers under the management of Gareth Ainsworth.
The Chairboys picked up their first point of the season against Watford in midweek, and will be looking to build on that impressive performance when they return to action this weekend.
They take on a Sheffield Wednesday side that have been in a poor run of form recently, so you would imagine that Wycombe will fancy their chance of picking up a win against the Owls.
Garry Monk’s side are currently sat bottom of the second-tier standings, and nine points adrift of safety, after being deducted 12 points at the start of this year’s campaign for off-the-field problems.
Wednesday were beaten 3-0 by Rotherham United in their last match, and Monk will surely be feeling the pressure heading into their next game.
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit David Prutton issued his pre-match prediction for the match, and made the somewhat bold claim in saying that Wycombe will run out 2-1 winners on the day.
“Wycombe got a great point against Watford in midweek and it could even have been more. It was, however, vital for them to finally get off the mark.
“Sheffield Wednesday do find themselves in a tough position. They need to get to zero points as quickly as possible but it doesn’t look like happening right now. It feels like a Wycombe win.”

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wycombe win this one.
The Chairboys really impressed me in their recent match against Watford, and I think they’ll cause Garry Monk’s side some problems this weekend.
Sheffield Wednesday were dreadful against Rotherham in their last game, and I fear for Monk’s future at the club if they’re to suffer a defeat at Adams Park.
I think Prutton’s predictions is spot-on here.
