Middlesbrough have been backed to beat Coventry City in the Championship this evening.

Neil Warnock's side have endured a steady start to the Championship season and are sitting 13th in the table heading into this midweek round of fixtures. On Saturday, they drew 1-1 with Cardiff City, extending their unbeaten run in the league that stretches back to the opening day.

In Coventry, they face a Sky Blues side with three defeats in their last five, which has sent them crashing towards the bottom three of the Championship.

Mark Robins' side were beaten 4-0 by Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon and have not tasted victory in the Championship since their 3-2 success against Queens Park Rangers last month.

In his midweek prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has looked at a host of the Championship's different fixtures, offering up his prediction for Boro v Coventry in the process.

He's backed a 2-1 win for Warnock's side, which helps extend their unbeaten run.

These two sides haven't met since 2012, when Coventry beat Middlesbrough 3-1 in a game that the Teessiders were reduced to nine-men.

The Verdict

Given Boro's stubbornness and Coventry's poor form at the moment, it's hard to disagree with what Prutton has predicted here.

Boro are going to be so difficult to beat at home, but for me, the number of games they draw is a little alarming and I actually think that might continue tonight.

I'll go for Coventry to snatch a point.
