Sky Sports pundit issues score prediction as Bristol City travel to Birmingham City

Birmingham City are currently just five points shy of the Championship play-offs but sit as far back as 14th and a win tonight will push them into the top half once more.

Bristol City also sit five points from the play-offs and are just one place below The Blues in the second-tier standings.

Nigel Pearson’s side have picked up 12 of their 19 points on the road this season but did manage to break their Ashton Gate curse at the weekend when they ran out 2-1 winners against Barnsley.

It was certainly not their best performance, but ultimately, they won three points on home soil for the first time in 18 games.

The Blues have not been too impressive on home soil themselves this term, picking up eight points from seven games at St Andrew’s.

Issuing his score prediction in his Sky Sports column, David Prutton believes that the hosts will end up as 1-0 winners.

The verdict

Birmingham will take a lot of confidence from their performance and result at the Riverside at the weekend, and it will be no real surprise to see them continuing that form into tonight’s contest.

However, The Robins will also be a confident outfit going into this one after breaking a run of 17 games without a home win, and that is despite the performance levels not quite being there.

A tightly-contested match is very likely to be played out at St Andrew’s, and whilst The Blues have not been brilliant at home, this is a good opportunity to boost themselves into the top half.
