Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping they can get back to winning ways in the Championship when they return to action in midweek.

Garry Monk's side were beaten by Luton Town in their most recent match as Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu scored the only goal of the match at Hillsborough on Saturday.

It means that the Owls remain bottom of the second-tier standings, and are eight points adrift of safety after their opening seven matches of this year's campaign.

Monk's men are set to take on Rotherham United at the New York Stadium on Wednesday evening, in what could potentially be a tricky test for the Owls.

The Millers are currently sat 18th in the Championship table, and will be hoping to bounce back from a frustrating 3-0 defeat to Reading at the weekend.

They had the majority of possession against the league-leaders, but failed to take the chances that came their way, as Reading scored three quick-fire goals.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton predicted that Sheffield Wednesday will run out 2-1 winners against the Millers.

Rotherham are without a win since the opening day of the season, after beating Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Paul Warne's side will be well-aware if the threat that Sheffield Wednesday will pose to them this week, in what is set to be a closely-fought battle between the two sides.

The Verdict:

I agree with Prutton's prediction for this one.

Sheffield Wednesday wouldn't be in the relegation zone in the Championship if it wasn't for their 12-point deduction for off-the-field problems.

I think they've got much more quality in their side compared to the teams around them in the relegation zone, and that includes Rotherham United.

I can see the Owls winning this one, and I even think it'll be by more than the goal that Prutton is predicting.
