Reading will be looking to strengthen their grip on a place in the play-offs when they return to action on Saturday afternoon against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Royals beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in their last match, and will fancy their chances of making it back-to-back wins this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently sat 23rd in the Championship table, and were beaten 2-1 by ten-men Rotherham United in their last match, as Freddie Ladapo fired home a late winner for the Millers at Hillsborough.

The Owls have recently appointed Darren Moore as their new manager, and the former Doncaster Rovers boss will be eager to see his side respond to that frustrating defeat in midweek.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the match, and predicted that the Royals would win this one 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

"Back-to-back wins for Reading this week, which they needed considering the charge of some of the sides below them. They are bubbling along nicely in the spot they are in.

"Sheffield Wednesday are in a spot of trouble. Darren Moore came in, but it's not the first result he would have wanted against Rotherham. I think it could well be another defeat on Saturday for him and his side."

Sheffield Wednesday will know that they simply have to pick up points in the near future, otherwise they're likely to be facing relegation into the third-tier of English football.

The Verdict:

I think the Royals will run out relatively comfortable winners here.

They've not been at their best in recent weeks, but they're still picking up points which is a positive sign for their bid for promotion into the Premier League this term.

Whereas Sheffield Wednesday didn't cover themselves in much glory in midweek against Rotherham, and I can still see confidence being low after that defeat to their relegation rivals.

An early goal for Reading could make this a dismal afternoon for Darren Moore's side.
