Sky Sports pundit issues prediction ahead of Reading’s visit to Coventry City

Reading will be hoping they can pick up another win in the Championship, when they return to action on Friday evening.

The Royals take on struggling Coventry City in front of the Sky Sports cameras, in a match they’ll be expected to pick up three points from.

Reading are currently sat top of the second-tier standings, and are six points clear of second-placed AFC Bournemouth after their opening eight matches of the 2020/21 season.

Veljko Paunovic’s side are yet to be beaten, and Mark Robins’ Coventry side will know that this is likely to be one of their toughest tests of the season to date.

Whilst Coventry are sat 22nd in their Championship table, and are without a win since their opening match against QPR, which will be slightly concerning for the club’s supporters in the early stages of this year’s campaign.

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the game on Friday evening, and predicted that the Royals would run out 2-0 winners.

“Coventry started brightly but have fallen away in recent weeks. Consolidation is key for them this season after so long away from the Championship.

“Reading have been so impressive. Defensively good despite conceding two in midweek, but that’s only a slight criticism as it’s hard to find too many of them at the minute! Away win here for me.”

Coventry were known as Singers FC when they were originally founded

The Verdict:

I have to agree with him here.

Reading have been brilliant this season under the management of Veljko Paunovic, and I can see them adding to Coventry City’s recent struggles here.

The Royals have been clinical in attack, and well-disciplined in defence, and I fully expect them to come away with another three points to show for their efforts tonight.

If the likes of Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite can pick up where they left off, then Reading should run out comfortable winners.
