Middlesbrough return to the Riverside Stadium this Saturday for their first home game of this new Championship campaign.

Bristol City make the long trip to the north-east, after a late injury time equaliser confined them to a 1-1 draw on the opening day against Blackpool.

Neil Warnock's side also drew 1-1 in their first game of the season, but it is fair to say that Boro will feel more positive than tomorrow's opponents.

Middlesbrough shared the points against Fulham, with Marc Bola's 77th-minute strike cancelling out Harry Wilson's well-worked opener.

Boro, who will certainly have promotion ambitions this time out, will be hoping to make Riverside a fortress once again, which will start by securing a good result against The Robins.

Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton believes the home side will come out victorious on Saturday, predicting a 2-0 win for Neil Warnock's men.

The verdict

Bristol City held a superior away record to their home form last season, beating the likes of Swansea City, Cardiff City, and QPR - all sides who either secured a top-six spot or who ran very close.

However, Boro offer a stern test and they have recruited well thus far this summer and will be a very tough team to beat for any side this season - as displayed at Craven Cottage last Saturday.

The Robins have recruited quality and Championship know-how in how they have added this summer, but in agreement with the prediction, Boro should have enough quality to see Nigel Pearson's side off.

Warnock has proved to be a serial winner at this level and that is something that has not diminished throughout his coaching career.
