Nottingham Forest will be looking to pick up a much-needed win to pull themselves clear of the relegation zone in the Championship as soon as possible.

The Reds were beaten by Swansea City at the weekend, which means they sit 21st heading into their next match, as they come up against promotion-chasing Watford at the City ground on Wednesday evening.

The Hornets are sat third in the Championship table after their opening 14 matches, and are unbeaten in their last five matches, after beating Preston North End at Vicarage Road recently.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton labelled Forest's current predicament as 'unthinkable' based off of last year's campaign, where the Reds were previously in contention to challenge for a top-six finish.

Prutton went on to predict that Watford will run out narrow 1-0 winners at the city ground on Wednesday evening, as the Hornets look to keep the pressure on league-leaders Norwich City with a win.

"For all the riches Chris Hughton has in attack, Forest simply haven't been able to score of late. They've lost three on the trot now and are hovering dangerously above the drop zone, which was unthinkable given their lofty position last term.

"They face a Watford team who have scored 11 in their last five on their way to establishing themselves among the early contenders for automatic promotion back to the Premier League, as expected. I'm going for an away win."

The Verdict:

I can only see a Watford win here.

For one reason or another, something just isn't clicking in this Nottingham Forest side, and it's important that Chris Hughton finds the solution at the earliest of opportunities.

There is quality in this Forest team, but they're evidently low on confidence, which isn't good as they head towards the hectic festive schedule.

Watford have really impressed me this season, and they'll fancy their chances of picking up another win here, as they look to win promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
