Huddersfield Town will be looking to pick up much-needed points in the battle to survive in the Championship when they return to action on Tuesday evening.

The Terriers were beaten 3-0 by Preston North End in their most recent fixture, which now means they're sat 19th in the second-tier standings, and just seven points clear of the relegation zone.

They're set to take on Birmingham City at the John Smith's Stadium on Tuesday, in what will be a hugely important match for both teams.

The Blues aren't out of relegation trouble themselves yet either, with Aitor Karanka's side sat 21st in the Championship table, and five points clear of the bottom-three.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the match, and predicted that Birmingham will win 1-0 against their relegation-threatened rivals.

"Huddersfield may be starting to worry a little. That win against Swansea a couple of weeks ago is starting to look like a blip rather than the start of a recovery for Carlos Corberan and his side.

"This is a massive game. Birmingham got a huge win at the weekend to lift themselves a little away from the bottom three. Both sides will be desperate for victory to give themselves some more breathing space, but I feel the Blues will have more confidence now and may well sneak the win."

The Verdict:

This is a massive game in the battle to avoid relegation into League One this term.

Birmingham have picked up some important wins in recent weeks, and you'd imagine that they'll head into this game full of confidence of picking up another win.

Huddersfield Town have shown alarming signs in recent weeks though, and I really do fear for their survival chances at this moment in time, as they seem to be sleepwalking into the bottom-three.

I can see Birmingham sneaking a narrow win in this one.
