Leeds United and Stoke City meet at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon with both sides looking to open their league campaign with three points.

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has had his say on how he thinks the fixture will be played out.

The former Leeds midfielder sees a narrow victory for the Whites in head coach Marco Bielsa’s first competitive outing.

Prutton sees the Yorkshire side seeing off their Championship rivals by the odd goal in five.

Leeds signed Barry Douglas from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £3million, and the Sky man things he will start paying his fee back from the off with the first goal of the season at Elland Road.

Stoke have arguably the strongest squad of the three relegated sides with manager Gary Rowett recruiting expertly to prime his team a promotion push, feels the pundit.

Prutton, however, sees Leeds nicking it by the odd goal in a 3-2 thriller.

The Verdict

You can agree on paper this game looks as enthralling as any on the opening weekend of the season.

Both sides have had a relatively good transfer window, with Leeds picking up the pace towards the latter part to make some genuinely strong acquisitions.

Stoke, too, have recruited well and it will be a battle of the new boys at Elland Road.

I share in Prutton’s predictions of goals, but I see neither team winning.

Goals galore in a three-all draw.
