It could be classed as a clash between the haves and the have nots, with Boro bringing in millions this window and Birmingham left to rummage around in the bargain bins.

However, with a dismal day yesterday for Boro, Birmingham managed to strengthen despite fears they couldn't.

Gary Gardner might not be a £15m winger or a 20-goal striker, but he is a good honest professional with lots to offer at this level.

On the other hand, all of the money Boro brought in means little if they can't spend it, Adama Traore and Patrick Bamford left without any significant arrivals.

Despite this, Sky pundit David Prutton feels there is only one winner from tomorrow's game. He's going for a home win, stating on the Sky website;

"Birmingham have had a tough couple of years and Garry Monk won't have wanted to return to the Riverside Stadium so quickly. I can't see them getting anything from this one. Home win."

He's predicted a 2-0 win for the home side, sating they managed perfectly well without Traore and Bamford in the midweek win against Chris Wilder's Sheffield United.

The Verdict

I'm not so sure this one is cut and dried. I'm thinking that Birmingham will foster an 'us and them' mentality and could be a surprise package if Monk can add a loan player or two.

Tomorrow they should be solid and resilient, inviting Boro to break them down. Having said that, Boro do have Martin Braithwaite on fire and he is like a new signing, having been cast aside last season. It's a tough one to call.
