After two dreadful 3-0 defeats to Middlesbrough and then Wolves, Paul Heckingbottom will be looking for a big response from his Leeds United players this weekend.
The Whites travel to Reading and whilst their season is effectively over, his players will know they are fighting for their futures at Elland Road.
The one shining light on Wednesday was the performance of young goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, other than that it was a real weak display.
However, Reading are struggling themselves, having failed to win in their last six games.
Therefore, it’s perhaps not too surprising that EFL pundit David Prutton is predicting a tight game between two sides low on confidence.
Writing in his regular Sky Sports column, the former Leeds midfielder reckons his old side will leave the Madejski Stadium with a 1-1 draw.
Whilst that would stop the rot for Leeds, it would extend Reading’s winless run and with a five-point gap between themselves and the bottom three, Jaap Stam will know how important it is to get a win, particularly at home.
This is a really difficult game to call as both sides are in worrying form and will be desperate for a win for different reasons.
Given that, you wouldn’t be surprised if Prutton’s prediction came off and it was a draw, although they it wouldn’t really suit either team.
Yet, Heckingbottom will be looking at the performance as much as the result as he needs a response following the last two abysmal showings.
