Sky Sports pundit and football expert David Prutton has predicted a tight Championship play-off final on Bank Holiday Monday, but sees Derby County coming out on top.

The Rams are set to take on Aston Villa for the third time this season knowing that they have been easily dispatched twice in the league already.

However, following Frank Lampard's men's comeback win over Leeds United in the semi-final, Prutton is backing the Rams to come out on top against Villa, who he regards as favourites.

"Both of these sides are much better going forward than in defence, but I wouldn't be surprised if a solitary goal decided this one again. It could so easily go either way, but I just think because of the way Derby came back against Leeds they will believe they can do it again." Prutton told Sky Sports.

Former Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Prutton is predicting a 'nervy' affair at Wembley, but his prediction of the Rams to run out 1-0 winners will no doubt linger in the mind of some Villa fans, who will have memories of a similar loss to Fulham last season.

Derby manager Frank Lampard comes head to head with his former teammate John Terry in the Villa dugout, who will be hoping to help assist Dean Smith's men to glory at the second time of asking.

The Verdict

This is all set up to be an absolute cracker at Wembley and I think there might well be goals rather than the nervy affair Prutton speaks of.

Both sides' strengths lie in their attacking prowess, and if the likes of Grealish, Abraham, Wilson and Mount get going, we could be in for a footballing feast.
