Birmingham City reached a low point of their season when they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Barnsley on Saturday.

The travelling fans made their anger known to the players by chanting 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' as they walked off.

Defeat leaves Blues in the relegation zone after Burton Albion had won at Millwall.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has revealed just how big a challenge he thinks Steve Cotterill faces.

When Birmingham beat Cardiff in Cotterill's first game in charge early last month, he must have though the job would be easy. Four games later and they have picked up just one point, failed to score a goal and sit in the bottom three. It just goes to show how difficult that job can be.”

Of course, Jamie is the son of Harry Redknapp who lost his job at St. Andrew's not long into the season. The ex-Spurs boss had spent relatively big money in the summer but that didn't translate into quick results and Blues have failed to kick on since.

The Verdict

It won't surprise many to see that Jamie Redknapp thinks the Birmingham job is difficult given that his Dad was recently fired from that position.

However, he does have a point. There are so many new faces which makes it hard to forge a team spirit, several loans and many clearly aren't up to it.

It looks a right mess at the moment and even though they have a lot of individual talent it's going to be a big job for Cotterill to change the mood around St. Andrew's.
