Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has been providing his predictions for this week’s round of mid-week fixtures, and the former midfielder has forecast a comfortable away victory for Cardiff City over Preston North End.
The Bluebirds have started the season in phenomenal form, and have dropped just two points this year, in a 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Confidence is sky-high at the club, and Neil Warnock’s men look in excellent shape heading into the fixture at Deepdale.
Having said that however, their hosts are certainly no mugs at home.
Alex Neil’s men are yet to lose at home this season, and are one of the most resolute sides in the Football League defensively, having conceded just twice in their opening six encounters.
A 1-1 draw with Barnsley at the weekend ruined their 100% home start to the new campaign, and Neil will not surrender their unbeaten record at Deepdale by succumbing to tonight’s visitors.
Prutton has Derby to dispatch their hosts by two goals to nil, but a strong Preston side who do not concede or score many, could frustrate the league leaders this evening.
Preston have a number of top attacking talents on their books who are one goal away from finding form, with Jordan Hugill, Callum Robinson and Sean Maguire all desperate for goals.
Maguire got off the mark against Barnsley, and will look to continue the phenomenal goalscoring record he produced whilst at Cork City in Ireland earlier this year.
Prutton goes for an away win, but I can see Cardiff suffering their first defeat of the season this evening.
Preston 1-0 Cardiff
What do you think? Who takes the points at Deepdale this evening?
