Quoted by the Daily Star, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has revealed that he would not have any problems with Leeds and West Brom getting promoted - even if things cannot be completed on the pitch.

The Sky Bet Championship season remains on pause and it remains to be seen how things are going to be picked up again.

Indeed, Sky Bet League Two now looks to be coming to an end with PPG set to decide automatic promotion and it remains to be seen if the second tier follows suit - though finances are slightly less of an influence as you go higher up the division.

For Leeds and West Brom, then, there will be hope that they can just finish the job and, if PPG is used, they will be promoted as the top two.

And, for Merson, that would be no problem at all.

He said:

"I know the likes of Fulham and Brentford won't agree but if Leeds and West Brom go up, I'll have no complaints at all.

"They've been the two best sides in the Championship this year and look good value for promotion."

The Verdict

A decision is needed sooner rather than later and it does seem one way or another the top two will get a chance to be promoted - with null and void surely off of the cards right now.

PPG seems a fair enough way of doing things, then, if the season cannot be completed on the pitch.
