Michelle Owen believes that Bristol City are resigned to losing Joe Bryan this summer, as Premier League interest continues to pour in.

Bryan is attracting interest from Burnley this summer, with various reports indicating that the Premier League club are closing in on a £6m deal for the Bristol City left-back.

Discussing Bryan in her latest column for the Bristol Post, Sky Sports presenter Owen wrote: “The versatile left-footed player had a fantastic first half to the season, and although his form waned in the second half he still is attracting interest from Premier League Clubs. So what are the chances of Bryan staying?

“The answer has to be very slim.

“Joe Bryan’s best years are yet to come and at 24 he will be looking to further his career in the best way for him now. He is a Bristol boy but has spent time away from the area before when he went on loan to Plymouth Argyle.

“It looks like City may be resigned to losing Bryan.”

The 24-year-old has been at Ashton Gate his entire professional career, despite spending time with Bath and Plymouth on-loan.

Bryan has managed to make 229 appearances for the Robins, including 48 across all competitions during the 2017/18 campaign.

The left-back contributed seven goals last season, helping Lee Johnson’s side to 11th in the Championship table and also the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The form of Bryan over the last year has attracted Burnley to his quality, with Sean Dyche looking to reshape his squad ahead of their Europa League appearance next season.

The Verdict

It’s hard to argue with Owen here, it seems that Bryan is heading for the exit door at Ashton Gate.

The 24-year-old had a good year on the whole for the Robins, with Premier League interest hardly a surprise.

Bryan’s exit will leave a hole to fill in Johnson’s squad, but Bristol City have done magnificently well to cope with the loss of others in recent years.

Of course, Bryan’s potential exit is a disappointment, but Bristol City must look to be positive if he moves and spend his fee wisely.
