Millwall be hoping to secure a big result as they host Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

The Lions got their season off to a decent start by securing a 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers at the Kiyan Prince Community Stadium thanks to a long-range strike from Jed Wallace.

That result was followed up by a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup first round, meaning that confidence will be high going into their first match back at The Den following the return of supporters.

As for Blackburn Rovers, it could be a tricky year.

Tony Mowbray's side claimed a surprise victory on the opening day of the Championship season after beating Swansea City 2-1 at Ewood Park thanks to goals from Sam Gallagher and Ben Brereton Diaz.

While the Lancashire side did fall to a surprise defeat against Morecambe midweek it seems that Blackburn could be cautiously optimistic as they head to South London.

A contest between Millwall and Blackburn Rovers is always going to be a cagey affair and that's represented in David Prutton's pre-match prediction.

The Sky Sports EFL expert has predicted the two sides to play out a 1-1 draw at The Den, meaning that both sides would extend their unbeaten runs into the third week of the season.

The verdict

Millwall will be relishing the prospect of this weekend.

Returning to The Den will be a huge moment for the Lions who will be hoping that their supporters can really make a difference as they prepare for what will hopefully be a season to remember.

Gary Rowett's side are dark horses for the play-offs and if they're to finish in the top six then this is exactly the sort of game that they should be winning.

For Blackburn this will be a tough test and one that they'll be a tad nervous about.

In a week where they've lost their talisman Adam Armstrong, Tony Mowbray's side will be hoping to make a good start to the season to ensure that they don't find themselves dragged into the battle at the lower end of the table.
