The Steel City derby takes place tonight in what should be a cracking encounter at Bramall Lane between two sides in desperate need of a win.

Sheffield United have recorded just one win in nine games, which has seen them go from challenging leaders Wolves to occupying seventh spot.

Meanwhile, Wednesday have just one win in ten. That dismal run played a part in Carlos Carvalhal losing his job and the derby tonight will be Jos Luhukay’s first in charge of the Owls.

The visitors will be seeking revenge after the Blades secured a memorable 4-2 win at Hillsborough earlier in the season. A brace from Wednesday old boy Leon Clarke helped Chris Wilder’s men to a thoroughly deserved three points.

And, we should expect goals tonight going by the prediction of Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton who went for 2-2 in his regular online column.

The former Wednesday midfielder is expecting a close but entertaining game at Bramall Lane tonight.

Wilder’s men can move into the top six with a win ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

The Verdict

All neutrals will be hoping Prutton is right and if it’s anything like the last game we should be in for a great watch.

It should be a ferocious game and the appointment of Luhukay makes it very hard to predict as nobody knows what sort of influence he will have had on the players.

However, a draw is a result that neither side will want which is why it could be a quick, open match.
