Brentford host Sheffield Wednesday tonight in the Sky Bet Championship, looking to put three straight league defeats behind them.

Thomas Frank's side have let standards slip and now find themselves in a vulnerable position in the automatic promotion race despite still sitting second in the table.

Tonight, they take on Sheffield Wednesday in the capital, looking to get some points back on the board against one of the Championship's real strugglers.

Neil Thompson watched his side lose a key fixture against Birmingham City over the weekend, with Wednesday still fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.

For David Prutton, he's expecting Wednesday to pick up a valuable draw against the Bees and dent their promotion hopes further.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton said: "That long unbeaten run had to come to an end at some point for Brentford, although I didn't think for a minute that three defeats would follow. They were second-best all afternoon against Coventry at the weekend and need to steady themselves quickly to remain in with a shot of automatic promotion.

"It's now three defeats from four for the Owls, who are still right in the relegation mire going into this one. They are still within touching distance of safety at the moment but could soon be cut adrift if things don't improve. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say they'll pick up a draw in west London."

The meeting at Hillsborough in October saw Brentford win 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ivan Toney.

The Verdict

Things aren't running smoothly for Brentford right now and they have lost significant ground on Norwich City at the top of the table.

More worryingly, a run of defeats means they are looking over their shoulders at Watford and Swansea City now, looking to hold them off in the race for the top-two.

Tonight is a big opportunity for the Bees to start putting things right against a struggling side.

It's a game they've got to be winning.
