Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his prediction on Bournemouth's trip to face Birmingham City on Saturday, suggesting the Blues will suffer a second-consecutive defeat.

Both sides head into the game on the back of midweek defeats, with the hosts losing to Wycombe and the Cherries beaten by Sheffield Wednesday.

In his predictions for Sky Sports, Prutton has indicated that Bournemouth will be the side that bounces back and predicted they'll win 1-0 tomorrow.

He explained: "Both of these sides need a reaction. Birmingham should have beaten Wycombe in midweek, especially after taking the lead, and will be so disappointed to have seen their mini run of wins come to an end.

"Bournemouth suffered their first defeat of the season at Sheffield Wednesday, but they have the quality to bounce back here. Away win."

That result could see Jason Tindall's side climb into the top two should results elsewhere go their way, while it would likely mean the Blues slide further down the table.

Goals have been an issue for Aitor Karanka's side this term with only four sides, all in the bottom five places in the Championship, scoring less than them so far.

That doesn't bode well for the visit of the Cherries, as they've conceded just eight times this season – among the best defensive records in the division.

Bournemouth have won all of the last four meetings between the two clubs, a record that you feel Karanka's men would love to put right.

Can you name the club’s top goalscorer from the last 13 seasons?

The Verdict

It's hard to disagree with Prutton on this one.

Birmingham had built up some momentum with a few narrow victories but the defeat to Wycombe in midweek was a hugely disappointing one.

They welcome a Bournemouth side packed full of quality and likely keen to bounce back after seeing their unbeaten record go on Tuesday evening.

The Blues' form in front of goal hasn't been convincing and that could be the difference here.
