Quoted by Sky Sports, EFL presenter David Prutton has touted Ollie Watkins for a Premier League spell before too long, with or without Brentford.
The attacker has had a stellar season so far and has been part of one of the most attacking front threes in the division alongside Said Benrahma and Bryan Mbuemo.
Certainly, it’s an eye-catching trio and, for Prutton, at least one third of it will be in the top flight with or without the Bees.
“He is Brentford’s chance of getting to the Premier League, and you imagine he will be there one way or another soon enough, anyway.”
And this statement, indeed, could be of interest to top-flight giants Arsenal.
Speaking last month, Brentford forward Watkins admitted that it would be a dream to play for the Gunners in the top flight, which is surely something most could understand given the size of the club,
Watkins could well be Premier League bound if he gets his wish, one way or another.
It is hard to disagree with Prutton as the attacker is clearly good enough to be in the top flight, it just remains to be seen with Arsenal or not.
The Gunners have the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front at the moment but they’ll be needing a plan for the future and perhaps Watkins could be part of that.
