Just the two games in the Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night but Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered their first defeat in 11 match as Crawley Town came from behind to win at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.
James Henry put Wolves in front on 25 minutes with a 25-yard strike that found the back of the net via a deflection.
Wolves had only conceded two goals in their last 10 games but found themselves back at square one when Crawley equalised eight minutes later. Billy Clarke took advantage of a defensive mix-up to equalise.
Matt Tubbs continues his rich vein of form since returning to Crawley with what proved to be the winner on 32 minutes. Tubbs raced clear and chipped the ball into the net over the advancing Carl Ikeme to net his seventh goal in eight games.
Colchester United gave their survival chances a must needed boost with a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town at the Colchester Community Stadium.
Shrewsbury should have took the lead early on when an unmarked Tom Eaves headed over from Jermaine Grandison’s cross. Colchester hit the bar twice through Brian Wilson’s free-kick and Dominic Vose’s long range effort before Jabo Ibehre found the net on 56 minutes.
The win pushes Colchester five points clear of the relegation places but leaves Shrewsbury Town four points adrift and are without a win in five.
