Ben Gladwin made his first appearance for over two years in a Blackburn Rovers shirt.

The midfielder has had a torrid run of injuries that has seen him him make just 11 appearances for the Lancashire side since joining the club from Queens Park Rangers in 2017.

Gladwin has been to hell and back behind the scenes as he looked to overcome a serious knee injury and build up his fitness ahead of a potential return to action.

That return happened on Friday afternoon when the midfielder played 45 minutes of the Premier League Cup clash with Burnley - a game which Blackburn Rovers won 2-1.

Gladwin's comeback was great news for everyone associated with the club, with his fellow teammates knowing exactly what sort of pain he's been through to get himself back to fitness.

Elliott Bennett even took to social media to share his positive thoughts, saying: "Very happy to see the big man back.

"All the hard work and dedication he has shown through a very difficult spell. Welcome back Ben Gladwin!"

The verdict

It's great news to see Ben Gladwin back in action.

After a horrendous two years at Ewood Park the former Queens Park Rangers defender finally looks like he's on the way back to full fitness.

There's plenty of progress still to make, but I'm supporters can't wait to see him back in action in the coming weeks.
