Versatile Chesterfield player Drew Talbot is looking likely to turn down the Spireites latest contract offer, leaving the door open for League Two club Oxford United to sign him, according to The Star.
Earlier in the week, FLW brought you the news that Talbot, who can play right-back, across midfielder and as a centre forward, was linked with a move to Oxford, who were the the favourites to sign the 28 year old but it appears that his home town club Barnsley are also looking at signing him.
The versatile player has had an injury hit campaign and has made just 18 appearances, including a brief loan spell at Plymouth Argyle.
Whatever Talbot decides, it is unlikely that he will extend his stay at the Proact Stadium for a seventh full season, despite new Spireites boss Dean Saunders being a fan of the player.
Saunders tried to sign the Barnsley born player when the Welshman was manager of Doncaster, so will be keen to see if the club can offer an improved deal.
