It's fair to say that Southampton have had their fair share of academy players that have gone on to bigger and better things in the past.

The likes of Gareth Bale and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are just classic example of this, and the Saints have an impressive track record when it comes to giving young players an opportunity to impress in the first-team.

They're currently sat 14th in the Premier League table, but that hasn't stopped Saints boss Ralph Hasenhüttl from showing his trust in some of the club's younger players this season.

O'Connor is contracted with Southampton until the summer of 2021, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Saints in this time with the club so far.

The defender has also been capped for the Republic of Ireland's Under-21s team.

Jones is another Southampton player that is currently on loan with League One side Gillingham.

He has made 34 appearances in total for the third tier team this season, and will be hoping that he can continue to make a positive impact with them heading towards the conclusion of this year's campaign.

Jones has also had first-team experience whilst on loan with Scottish side St Mirren earlier in his career.

Ferry has been a regular for Southampton's Under-23s team this season and will be hoping he can force his way into the first-team heading towards next year's campaign.

The 19-year-old signed a two-year contract extension back in January, so it's clear to see that the Saints rate him highly for the future.

He could be one to watch for a potential breakthrough to the first-team picture next term.

Vokins has made his first-team debut for Southampton already this season, which came against Huddersfield Town in January 2020.

The left-back scored in the game against the Terriers as well, but hasn't been involved in the first-team since.

But he's been featuring for the Under-23s side for much of this year's campaign, and will be hoping he can continue to impress over the summer.

Ramsay spent his youth career with Chelsea, but moved to Southampton back in 2017.

The full-back made his first-team debut against Manchester City in December 2018, and will be keen to get back into the first-team picture at the earliest of opportunities.

The defender is currently on loan with League One side Shrewsbury Town, where he has made five appearances for them this season.

Slattery is one of the more experienced youngsters that could be knocking on the door of the first-team squad in the near future.

The midfielder has made five appearances in total for the Southampton first-team, but has since signed for Dutch side De Graafschap on loan for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Slattery has also represented England at Under-20s level, and will be hoping he can continue to impress.
