It looks set to be an unusual summer transfer window, given the financial problems clubs have suffered due to the delay to the season.

Mansfield Town have never been a club with a huge amount of financial might but that hasn't stopped them from making some shrewd signings over the years.

That said, they've also brought in their fair share of disappointing ones and, with that in mind, we've compiled a list of six of the worst...

The journeyman striker featured for 16 different English clubs during his career and was particularly impressive for the likes of Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday, and Manchester City.

His move to Mansfield in 1995 was not such a success. The Hungarian played just once for the Stags before leaving the club to join Boston United in the same season.

The French left-back joined the Stags ahead of their first season back in the Conference in 2008/09.

It was not a fruitful spell, Jeanin's performances were underwhelming and the defender was released after just one season at Field Mill.

With seven caps for Wales and some significant experience higher up the EFL pyramid, Davies looked a shrewd signing in June 2018.

It is fair to say things have not worked out that way. The 34-year-old's impact has been minimal and he hasn't been worth the money. You'd imagine he'll be shown the exit door this summer.

Another player that arrived at Field Mill with some significant experience under his belt, Laidlaw joined the Stags in 1982 having made more than 500 appearances in the Football League.

Unfortunately for Mansfield, he could offer them very little and made just four appearances before calling time on his professional career.

The central midfielder joined the Stags on loan in the 2004/05, a deal that they would make permanent ahead of the following campaign.

That proved a mystifying decision as McLachlan's provided a string of disappointing displays before leaving the club the following summer.

Anderson looked a smart bit of business when he arrived at Field Mill in 2017 off the back of an impressive season for Northampton Town.

He never seemed to find his feet for Mansfield and his stay was brief. As is so often the case, the 31-year-old is now back at Northampton and seems to have rediscovered his form.
