Preston North End will be hoping they can hold their nerve in the race for a top-six finish this season in the Championship.

Alex Neil's side are currently sat sixth in the second tier standings, and will be keen to cement themselves in the play-off positions when the football returns this weekend.

We take a look at the SIX worst ever Preston North End signings from over the years.

Find out who they are, on the next page....

Ashbee signed for Preston back in January 2011, but only remained with the club for just over a year.

The experienced midfielder struggled with the pace of the game in his time with North End, which was also blighted with various injury problems.

A spell to forget for Ashbee, that's for sure.

Daley signed for Preston back in the summer of 2011 after a successful trial period with the Lancashire-based club.

But his time with the club was one to forget, as he made just ten appearances across a two-year spell with North End.

His contract with the club was mutually terminated in January 2013, and he's back playing his football in Jamaica nowadays.

The defender signed for Preston in 2012 on a loan deal from Grimsby Town.

But he only made five appearances in his time with the club, and again, it didn't come as a surprise to see them not take up the option of signing him permanently at the end of the season.

Trundle arrived with raving reviews after impressive spells with the likes of Swansea City and Wrexham.

But he struggled to make a notable impact with Preston when he signed for them back in 2012. Trundle picked up a knee injury that kept him out of action for four months shortly after arriving at Deepdale.

He left Preston by mutual consent in February 2013 and went on to sign for Chester.

The centre-back struggled for consistent minutes wherever he went it seemed.

It was a similar story with when he signed for Preston in February 2012 from Aldershot Town, but didn't have his deal renewed at the end of that season.

Preston fans might remember him well for his cameo appearance as a striker against Sheffield Wednesday.

McEveley spent a brief spell at Deepdale on loan from Derby County back in 2008.

But he struggled in his time with the club, and it came as no surprise to see the Lilywhites not make an effort to sign him on a permanent basis after such a poor spell with North End.
