It looks set to be an unusual summer transfer window due to the financial issues that have been raised by the delay to the season.

That said, you'd imagine Port Vale will look to make a few additions to help them build on the success they have had this term.

The League Two club have made some really smart signings in the past but have also had their fair share of shockers.

The goalkeeper joined the club on loan from Derby County in 1980, having never made a senior appearance for the Rams.

Cherry would go on to have a successful career but not at Port Vale, where he managed just eight disappointing performances.

His most famous was a calamitous display in the FA Cup, which saw the club lose to a non-league club for the first time in 50 years.

The right-back had a fair amount of EFL experience when he joined Vale in July 2017 but the year he spent at the club was not positive for either club or player.

Wilson never seemed to find his feet and made just eight appearances for the club before leaving in January.

Paterson's Stoke City connections were always likely to make things difficult for him at Vale Park but his lacklustre performances certainly didn't help.

The Northern Irishman only found the net twice in 16 appearances during the 2016/17 campaign and was released after just six months at the club.

Jules' time with the Valiants may have been short but it certainly wasn't pretty.

The defender joined on loan from Shrewsbury Town and was hauled off 51 minutes into his second appearance, never to feature again.

The Welshman arrived at the club in 1978 for a fairly significant transfer fee and with a 'hard man' reputation.

He would not prove value for money in the slightest. Delgado made his debut in a 6-2 defeat on Boxing Day, perhaps an apt start to a disappointing few years at Vale Park.

The fact that Henderson's arrival saw Vale's key striker Bob Newton move the other way always meant it might be difficult for him to impress.

That said, the Scotsman produced some woeful displays for the club and contributed to their relegation in the 1983/84 campaign.
