MK Dons will be preparing for another season in the third-tier of English football.

The journey the Dons have been on has been pretty impressive when you consider where they came from, and having competed in the Championship in the recent past, you realise some of what they’ve done has been a success.

Success often comes on the back of a good recruitment strategy, but, like all clubs in the EFL, MK have had a couple of really poor additions.

With that in mind, we go down the track of looking at some of MK’s worst additions over the years, identifying SIX…

Carayol is a well-travelled winger now at the end of his career, but right at the start of his career, his first move led him to MK Dons.

However, he was still in single figures in terms of appearances by the time he moved out of the club to begin his long journey through the EFL.

Bridges made a name for himself at Sunderland and Leeds United, and at one time stood as one of English football’s best young talents.

However, injuries plagued him throughout his career and by the time he ended up at MK Dons, he was on the verge of retirement.

A League Cup appearance and one league appearance off the bench tell the story.

The name Pele is known worldwide, but unfortunately for MK it wasn’t the Brazilian Pele coming through their doors.

After spells with Southampton and West Brom, Pele eventually ended up with the Dons, but passed through the club without making an appearance in 2010.

A lot like Bridges, Bullard’s career was on the decline by the time he played for MK.

During his time at Wigan, Bullard was exceptional, but MK Dons never got anywhere near the midfielder’s best.

A brief spell in 2012 saw him make just three appearances.

Another high-profile name on this list is former England centre-back, Matthew Upson.

Birmingham City and West Ham had seen the best of the former Arsenal man earlier in his career, but by the time Upson arrived at MK, he wasn’t ever going to excel.

In total, he made six appearances.

The less said about Tshibola, the better.

The midfielder is a talented player, but he’s never made a proper fist of things in English football.

Aston Villa loaned him to MK in 2017, but his short-term spell is not fondly remembered.
