Ipswich Town are currently facing up to another season in League One.

A drop into the third-tier at the end of last season wasn’t expected to go this way for Ipswich, but the fact is they are facing a slightly longer rebuild than they might’ve expected.

At the start of the Millennium, Ipswich were a club on the rise, but their fall has been a long one and good decisions haven’t been made along the way.

As always, recruitment plays a big part in that, which leads us to the point of naming SIX of the worst signings Ipswich have made…

Spells with Valencia, Real Madrid and, in England, Bolton Wanderers, made Campo a decent addition in 2008.

However, he made just 17 appearances and had little impact at Portman Road, particularly when you compare that to 100+ appearances for Bolton.

Ellington ripped the second-tier to pieces with Jason Roberts during the pair’s spell at Wigan, but Ipswich wasn’t a place the striker could settle later in his career.

In 17 appearances, Ellington failed to score a goal and was quickly on his way out of Portman Road.

Fish was another that was a big hit elsewhere in England, with the defender impressing for both Bolton and Charlton Athletic.

However, a loan spell at Ipswich didn’t bring what was expected, with Fish managing just one appearance before moving back out of the club.

The Chelsea youth product made a name for himself in the EFL in the early 2000’s, particularly impressing for Swindon Town.

However, a move to Ipswich brought only 22 appearances and a handful of goals, with Parkin’s stay at Portman Road a brief one following injury troubles.

Ingimarsson was a huge hit with Reading before making the move to Ipswich in 2011.

However, like those before him in this list, the Icelandic defender made only eight appearances before bowing out.

The striker failed to score in 26 appearances for Ipswich, despite having success with the likes of Malmo before testing the waters in England.

One to forget, for certain.
