Brentford fans must be shaking their head at their terrible luck recently. They were looking like genuine title challengers, putting together a sensational run to trouble the top two spots.

Since beating Wigan 2-0 in September they've been on in atrocious form, just one win in eleven across all competitions has seen them fall to 15th. They're now closer to the drop zone than the top six and without the manager who sparked the great form.

That might be unsettling for some of the big stars who have helped them this season. Neal Maupay is one who looks prime for a move and at the back, Ezri Konsa is another who must be attracting some attention. There's a feeling their status as promotion candidates is about to take a dive and several players won't want to go down with the ship.

What about Ollie Watkins? The former Exeter player is below his strike partner in terms of goals, but he is one with plenty to offer and has youth on his side.

Could he be one that bigger clubs target this summer? FLW shines a spotlight on the striker.

Watkins has made 15 appearances this season and was in sensational form in the early matches. Brentford genuinely looked like title challengers and his four goals in six games certainly helped edge them towards that dream.

In total, he's scored six, only two of which have come since September 1st, but he's also created two for his teammates. His form may have tailed off, but so has that of the whole squad. His ability is still evident, not least in his recent performance against Millwall, whom they beat 2-0 with him scoring.

He's likely to get shots off during a game, averaging 2.5 per match, so he's still as livewire as ever. Perhaps it has been down to luck as much as anything, but the goals drying up hasn't been due to a lack of trying.

He likes the odd dribble too, making one per game, but much of the running with the ball is done by the midfielders and wingers. Watkins is there as a conduit, to create and to score and whilst the side is not functioning, that shot ratio proves he is.

Could he be getting frustrated? If so, does that make him prime for a January move?

His pass success rate is impressive for a centre-forward too, 76% of his deliveries make it to the feet of an opponent. He's clearly a skilful player with lots to offer, but could Brentford's dip mean he looks to offer it elsewhere in 2019?
