Millwall are in a relegation dogfight this season, and Neil Harris’ side’s chances of staying in the Championship are likely to be going down to the wire.

They are currently sat 20th in the league table and are just two points clear of Rotherham, who occupy one of the remaining relegation places.

Millwall supporters have had little to cheer for this season, with a number of players struggling for consistency in their league campaign this season.

But one man that has been a rare bright spark for the Lions is young defender, Jake Cooper.

The central defender has made a notable impact at both ends of the pitch, and is arguably, Millwall’s biggest attacking threat.

The defender signed for Millwall from Reading in 2017, and has made remarkable progress since signing along the dotted line at The Den.

He has six goals and six assists to his name for Millwall this season, and without his contribution, you have to feel that they would be occupying one of the relegation places heading towards the conclusion of the season.

If Millwall are to in fact, be relegated to League One, then it’s likely that Cooper will be one of the first names heading for the exit door at The Den, as it’s previously been reported that the likes of Rangers have been monitoring his progress in the past, according to The Scottish Sun.

He’s more than good enough to be playing Championship football and could arguably, do a job for a team in the Premier League.

It is surprising to see him still with Millwall, and even if they are to retain their status as a Championship club, then it would come as a surprise to see the defender stay with Neil Harris’ side before next year’s campaign gets underway.

A defender that has a bright future ahead of him, who will surely have a number of clubs preparing a formal bid for him when teh transfer window reopens in the summer.
