It's been an excellent 2019/20 season for Richie Wellens' Swindon Town, with them securing the League Two title.

However, it's not always been plain sailing for the Wiltshire club, and the team have had to navigate through some tough patches on the pitch.

Here, we take a look at six of the most shocking Swindon Town signings we've seen....

Mattia Lanzano joined Swindon back in 2011 when Town were managed by Paulo Di Canio.

He made just seven appearances for the club and was swiftly moved on in the following season.

Back in the 1980's, Swindon secured the signing of goalkeeper Alistair Sperring on loan from Southampton.

And on his debut, which was his only game for the club, he conceded five goals.

He was never seen again in a Town shirt!

Another goalkeeper, Jake Findlay joined Town back in 1985 from Luton, and went on to make a mere four appearances for the club.

He lasted just 10 weeks at the club before being shifted on to Peterborough United.

McCammon joined Town on loan from Charlton back in 2000, and his spell at the County Ground was rather forgettable.

He managed just four appearances and didn't score once.

The 6ft 5 forward won't be remembered fondly at the club.

Adrian Bakkali made just one appearance in a Swindon shirt after he arrived from Watford back in 2001.

The midfielder played 45 minutes for Town when they played Stoke after safety was secured, and that was pretty much all he did.

One to forget.

There was some optimism when Swindon signed Neil Webb on loan, an England international, big things were expected.

The Berkshire-born midfielder struggled to make an impact at the County Ground though, and was seemingly using the club as a stepping stone to maintain fitness.

It simply did not work.
