Famara Diedhiou's future is a hot topic of discussion at the moment and the Bristol City forward could well leave the club on a free this summer.

Interest grew in the player in January with his contract up at the end of this campaign but he remained at Ashton Gate and it remains to be seen if he puts pen to paper in the coming weeks before his deal is up.

He did well yesterday evening, scoring two goals against Middlesbrough in a 3-1 win and that showed Nigel Pearson what he can do when he is on form.

For FLW Bristol City fan pundit Kory Cook, meanwhile, keep Diedhiou would be fine but only if it does not break the bank.

He explained:

"The Diedhiou contract situation is a complex one.

"I think I talk for every Bristol City fan in saying he's been a fantastic servant for the club over the past 4 years, and I would like him to stay, but I also don't think we should be offering him the world to sign.

"Rumour has it we've offered him the biggest contract the club has ever put to anyone, so if he doesn't agree to that, then it's probably best that we part ways."

Our Verdict

It's a good point that Kory makes.

Diedhiou showed on Tuesday night what he can still offer but there is no real reason that the Robins should go over the top financially to keep him, in all honesty.

Negotiations remain there to be had, then, and we'll just have to see whether they come to an agreement of if he does head for pastures new this summer.
