QPR boss Mark Warburton has confirmed that the signing of 32-year-old Marc Pugh means he's no longer pursuing Ipswich Town's Alan Judge, as reported by West London Sport.

The former Brentford boss had been keen to reunite with Judge, who left the Bees for Ipswich in January. He signed a new deal at Portman Road over the summer and has been a target for the Hoops since.

He's been the subject of bids from QPR, with Paul Lambert keen to outline how the valuation of £250,000 was not close to that of Tractor Boys owner Marcus Evans. That made a move unlikely, but the final nail in the coffin has come with Pugh's arrival at Loftus Road.

It's reported that when asked whether signing Pugh was a reaction to Ipswich playing hardball over Judge, Warburton simply replied; "It probably is."

30-year-old Judge played for the former Rangers boss at Griffin Park and has previously appeared for Notts County, Blackburn and Plymouth in his career. He's received three caps from the Republic of Ireland, the most recent of which came this year.

Pugh, a former Bournemouth winger, signed for the Hoops on a one-year deal over the weekend.

The Verdict

This displays an element of common sense on Warburton's part; perhaps it's his background in the City that brings him a certain financial sense. He could have prised Judge away for a bigger fee, but wouldn't go over his valuation.

I've got high hopes for Warburton. The Rangers job was always going to be tough; until they win a title again every manager will be a flop. As for Nottm Forest, you only have to see they've had three managers since he left to understand how tough it is there.

He did superbly well with Brentford and I suspect he's going to do the same with QPR. They're a big club and they deserve to be higher up the table than they have been recently.
