Jordan Roberts became the second Ipswich Town player to make a loan switch to League Two leaders Lincoln City yesterday, following in the footsteps of winger Danny Rowe.

Roberts left Crawley in the summer for Portman Road, but found his chances limited once manager Paul Hurst was fired. He started six Championship games, making a further six outings from the bench and contributing one assist.

He never settled in Suffolk and has now been sent out to Danny Cowley's Imps for the remainder of the season, less than a week after Danny Rowe made the same journey.

Rowe had immediate impact at Lincoln, helping them to a 1-0 win against local rivals Grimsby on Saturday, before bagging a brace against Yeovil on Tuesday night to send them six points clear.

Whilst his talents have been recognised by some Tractor Boys' fans, Roberts does not seem to be such a popular figure. The overriding message from fans on social media, both Ipswich and from former club Crawley, is that a second-tier move was always a step too far.
