Derby County have had a tough few years which having been affected by off the pitch matters.

They went into the start of this season with a -21 point deduction and despite their best efforts, the side could not overcome it and consequently were relegated to League One.

Things had started to look up for the club recently thought with American businessman Chris Kirchner looking set to takeover the club and save them.

Kirchner was named as the preferred bidder in April and had that status extended at the start of May and although the deal was expected to go through by the end of May, funds still haven't been provided by the businessman.

Last week he reassured fans on Twitter that this was just a delay because of the bank holiday but according to BBC Sport, funds still haven't been transferred over and reporter Ed Dawes says the deal is on the brink of collapse.

With no official update being given by the club, Kirchner, the EFL or the administrators, Simon Jordan sent the potential owner a message on White & Jordan Live (via Derbyshire Live) saying: "Kirchner is the guy that got the preferred bidder status. Kirchner is the guy that's put a non-refundable deposit down. Kirchner is the guy that deals in logistics as a business.

"So get the logistics of a bleeding bank transfer done. Unless you're getting cold feet. Unless there's something in the mix that we're not 100% conversing with.

"And, by the way, this is a guy that tells you the workings of his backside on a daily basis through social media about what he's going to do with the Academy, how Wayne Rooney's a big part of his plans. Well, clear this up. Come on now. Start on the right foot."

The Verdict:

The news surrounding Derby today is extremely worrying in their takeover hopes and their hopes for the future. The process of this takeover has been a long one and if it falls through now, the Rams are going to be in a really tough position ahead of the new season.

Simon Jordan's message is absolutely fair. Kirchner has done well at communicating with the Derby fans throughout this process so the silence from him recently is a worry and you don't want to start off your relationship with your new club on the wrong foot.

Furthermore, there is the worry that he may be prepared to pull out of this deal as this is the final part to getting it done but whatever is going on, the fans deserve an update so they know where they stand approaching the summer transfer window.
