Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has revealed that he has been told there are plenty of issues among the Stoke City players this season.

The Potters are in a desperate situation right now, with the team without a manager and they are currently six points from safety.

And, Jordan commented on their predicament when speaking on TalkSPORT this morning and he indicated there are a lot of problems behind the scenes at Stoke right now.

"It doesn't make a lot of sense because if you look at the management structure at Stoke. Peter Coates has been there forever and a day. He's very committed, very wealthy and doesn't seem to be disillusioned with the club.

"There doesn't seem to be any disarray at the top of the club. But my understanding is that there seems to be a hell of a lot of disarray at the training ground. Disenfranchised players. Disillusioned players. Demoralised players and that adds to the situation where you are bottom of the league. This looks like a club that's in free for all and for no real reason."

Stoke are back in action this weekend when they head up north to take on fellow strugglers Barnsley. The Tykes are currently one point and one place above the Staffordshire outfit.

The verdict

The unfortunate thing is that these comments probably wouldn't surprise Stoke fans as they know the problems run deep right now.

There is clearly something wrong at the club and as Jordan says, even though the hierarchy have made some bad decisions, they have the right intentions.

So, there may be something to this and it highlights just how big a job the new manager will have when he takes over.
