Shrewsbury Town have confirmed that experienced striker Simon Haworth has joined the club on a voluntary basis to coach the club’s strikers.
Former Welsh international Haworth played for the likes of Cardiff City, Coventry, Wigan and Tranmere Rovers and brings plenty of experience to the New Meadow. He also made five appearances for the Welsh national team.
The Town manager Micky Mellon said: “He just wants to be involved with myself and the football club, and he’s going to be doing some work with the strikers.
“I believe (being a striker) is specialist position and it is an area that I believe if we do a bit extra work and work a bit harder to get that quality we can score a few more goals. Hopefully it will pay dividends.”
The Shropshire club has been really busy since their relegation from the League One – they have have brought eight new players in so far.
