Blackpool manager Simon Grayson has revealed that injured trio Nathan Delfouneso, Sullay Kaikai and Joe Nuttall are all progressing well following spells on the sidelines with injury.

Delfouneso hasn't featured for Blackpool since their 3-2 defeat to Coventry City in early September, while Kaikai and Nuttall have both missed the last two games.

Now however, it seems as though the trio are all closing in on a return to action.

Speaking after his side's goalless draw at Bolton on Monday night, Grayson revealed that all three are stepping up their returns to fitness, although the Blackpool boss was unable to confirm whether they would be available for his side's next game on Saturday, as he told the Blackpool Gazette: “They’re all making good progress.

"Will Saturday come too soon for one or two of them? I don’t know, we will just take it by a day-by-day situation."

Explaining the situation with regards to Kaikai in particular, Grayson continued: “With Sullay he had a bit of a hamstring problem he sustained with the last kick of the ball during the training session before the Lincoln game.

“It’s nothing major, but it’s just one of those things that happen in training sometimes.”

That next game for The Seasiders sees them host Rotherham United at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Following that stalemate on Monday, Blackpool are now fourth in League One, with five wins and five draws from their opening 12 games of the league campaign.

The Verdict

I think this will be a welcome boost for Blackpool.

Having watched them against Bolton on Monday, it certainly seemed as though they struggled to really threaten the Wanderers goal at any point throughout the 90 minutes.

Given the current predicament Bolton are in, and the expectation that Blackpool will have built up for themselves following their impressive start to the season, that is something that may well be a concern for Grayson and co.

A return to fitness for three more attacking options in the form of Delfouneso, Nuttall and Kaikai will surely therefore come of something of a relief for the Seasiders, given the extra attacking outlets it will provide them with as they look for to pose a greater threat going forward again.
