Blackpool boss Simon Grayson has told supporters he's willing to wait for the right signings to come along as he looks to sustain a promotion challenge this season, as reported by the Blackpool Gazette.

The Tangerines opened their season with a 2-0 win at home against Bristol Rovers this weekend, but Grayson is in no rush to add to his ranks until the right player becomes available.

When asked if he would be bringing in any new faces, the former Leeds boss replied: "Who knows? It’s something we need to look at and I will speak to Simon (Sadler, owner) and Ben (Hatton, managing director).

“But we’re not in a great rush, there’s no real area of the pitch where I think we need to make something happen."

Grayson admitted he's brought in players for the positions he had previously identified and now he'll wait to see if he can improve the squad, rather than make rash choices.

"When we spoke about 10 days ago I said it was imperative we try and get a striker in and another centre-back and we’ve done that. If anything becomes available that I think will make us better then I’ll ask the question, because that’s what us managers do.”

Joe Nuttall and Rocky Bushiri were the last two players to come through the door at Bloomfield Road and both came from the bench in the 2-0 win.

The victory was secured by familiar faces from last season; a Jay Spearing penalty gave them a first half lead before Armand Gnanduillet netted the second early in the second half.

The Verdict

There is little need for Grayson to make more signings; he's been very efficient with a number of good acquisitions this summer. Joe Nuttall will likely be a key player and keeping Curtis Tilt means they're not short at the back.

However, every manager is aware of the need to progress and if the right player came along at the right price, he'd be sure to make a move.

One position they don't need to cover is up front. Gnanduillet and Nathan Delfouneso started this weekend's fixture, with Ryan Hardie and Nuttall on the bench. With Adi Yussuf in the squad as well, they've got great options going forward.
