Ex-Forest midfielder Simon Gillet has signed for Yeovil Town on a two-year-deal
The Bristol Post reports that the former Bristol City loanee Gillet has joined The Glovers on a two-year-deal.
The ex-Forest midfielder had been on trial with Town for the pre-season and featured in three friendly games and scored once, including being an unused substitute in the 9-0 win against Dorchester on Monday.
Gillet, who has previously played for Southampton’s academy and reserves making 31 appearances for the club. Gillet was released from Southampton in 2010 and chose to sign for Doncaster Rovers (firstly on loan, then permanently) making 68 appearances, scoring four goals. In 2012 the midfielder joined up with his former manager Sean O’Driscoll at Nottingham Forest, but would only get 25 starts at the City Ground in a two season spell. He added to his game time at Forest with a loan at Bristol City last season from Nottingham Forest, playing 23 games for the Robins with a return of two goals.
The Oxford-born midfielder had loan spells at Walsall, Blackpool, AFC Bournemouth and Yeovil between 2005 and 2009.
Whilst at Blackpool, he played his part in the 2007 play-off final winning squad which beat his new employers 2-0 at Wembley to earn promotion to the Championship, Gillett will arrive in Somerset looking to build on the four appearances he already has for Town from a short loan spell during the 2006-07 season.
