Preston North End are weighing up a summer loan move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott, as per a report from Football.London.

The Lilywhites will have to battle it out with Middlesbrough, QPR and Swansea City for the 20-year-old's signature, following a good spell with MK Dons last time out.

Parrott netted eight league goals and provided a further seven assists in 41 league games last time out for the Buckinghamshire club

The report states that the Premier League outfit are planning on welcoming Parrott into the first-team set up ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, with Spurs eyeing up a suitor who could help bridge the gap from League One to the top end of England's top-flight.

Three of our writers here at FLW have shared their thoughts regarding Preston's interest in the young forward...

Parrott had a very promising second half of the season and ended with an impressive 15 goal contributions with MK Dons.

The 20-year old finally started to show some of his exciting potential in League One in the last six months and the step up to the Championship is now the right next step in his career.

Ryan Lowe has worked well with younger players in the past and Parrott could really benefit from playing at Deepdale.

If he can continue his good momentum into next season then this would be a very good signing for Preston.

Having someone capable of scoring consistently could really help boost the team’s promotion chances, and the Lilywhites could be a great place for Parrott to prove he can be that player.

Troy Parrott did have a good season on loan with MK Dons this season. In 47 appearances in all competitions, the striker scored ten goals and had a role to play in his side’s push to the play-offs.

Preston could do with attacking reinforcements and although they have been linked with Andre Gray, Parrott would provide them with the youth in the side too at 20-years-old which should be a nice dynamic.

It’s hard to see him being the club’s out and out striker with his numbers up and down over the years and not scoring with Millwall in the Championship, despite making just 11 appearances. However, working alongside someone he looks like he would be able to add to the side.

Furthermore, as a loan deal this seems relatively low risk as a deal but could add to what Ryan Lowe’s side needs.

With Cameron Archer having returned to Aston Villa and seemingly unlikely to head to Deepdale once again this summer, Troy Parrott is certainly an interesting option for Ryan Lowe to consider.

The 20-year-old spent the 2021/22 campaign out on loan at MK Dons in League One and although at times he shone, his form dipped in other moments, which could be a concern.

However, at this stage of his career, inconsistency is perhaps something that can be forgiven.

Lowe will certainly hope that the experience of playing regular first team football throughout an entire season in Milton Keynes will allow Parrott to be firing on a more regular basis next season if he does join Preston.

The Republic of Ireland international certainly has big potential, and if Lowe can unlock it, we could see Parrott make a similar impact to the one made by Cameron Archer after he arrived at Deepdale on loan in January.
